Sometimes life becomes a maze of struggle and confusion.  In those times it can help to have someone walk with you.  As a therapist, I try to help people find their way through troubling times by facilitating changes in life patterns and encouraging them to see new possibilities.

I have been working with individuals, couples, and families for over 35 years.  After serving as a minister for several years I began to wonder how I could help couples and families who were struggling with their lives.  I completed a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University and followed this with a PhD in Family Social Science at the University of Minnesota. Over the years in addition to maintaining a private practice I have trained therapists in academic settings. I helped start the graduate program in Couples and Family Therapy at North Dakota State University and, since 2002 have been with a similar program at the University of Wisconsin – Stout where I currently serve as program director.

I work with people who bring a variety of concerns to therapy including anxiety, depression, stress, anger, communication difficulties, parenting, and spiritual issues.  I specialize in working with couples and families. I rely on a variety of approaches including narrative, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and internal family systems therapies to help clients navigate the challenges in their journey.
